Our son is now 2 years old
He is shockingly smart, giving who his parents are :). He can count to 12 with little help, he knows his colors, and he can reason better than some adults. We give all the glory to God-certainly not us! He is so much like Adam, not just in looks, but also in nature. He is calm and reserve, most of the time, yet he is daring and strong. He is beginning to show his "other"side which has been quickly linked to mommy :). When he hurts himself, instead of crying, Gavin typically shows frustration through shouting "no" randomly at no-one. Although we know this is not acceptable, it is pretty funny to see a mini-me come out for a minute. He is also adventurous which I would like to say comes from both of us. As long as we give the nod of approval, he will pretty much try anything.
He still loves gymnastics. In fact, he was recently invited to join the 3 year old class because he is showing so much discipline and ability (and this class requires no parental aid.) He is just happy as a clam to follow the leader yet shows no hesitation when it is his turn to be first.
He is beginning to express his opinion in clothes and shoes. In fact, whatever daddy is wearing...boots, running shoes, or 'pip-pops' so goes Gavin's choice. Daddy is Gavin's hero. He practically dances right out of his shoes when he sees daddy driving up the street on his motorcycle. He can point out "Daddy's plane." According to Gavin, all other airplanes are "little ones" while Daddy's is a "BIG Airplane."
Gavin loves airplanes, motorcycles, tractors, big 'pucks' (trucks), practically anything with wheels. His new love is his 'parm aminals.' He loves loves loves his barnyard set complete with, not one but 3 tractors and one John Deer Gator. He picked cotton for the first time this year and, of course, it joined the farm too.
He is learning how to open doors, and keep holding the door :), for ladies. He says thank you but still working on "Your'e Welcome." He potty's in the big boy potty at night before shower-time. He is about to switch over into his big boy bed. I'm sure there will be an entire post on how this goes :).
Adam was participating in Red Flag in Alaska for the entire month of October. So in an effort to surround Gavin by as much family as possible for his special day, we headed home for about 3 weeks. Thankfully Biggie graciously volunteered to make the 14 hour drive with us. We stayed in TN for about 3 weeks. It was a GREAT trip that far exceeded my expectations. Gavin remained healthy the entire trip...which is a huge deal being the beginning of flu season :). Nana and Papa opened their home to the entire family for a "honkin'-tonkin', farmin" good time!
Thank you to all of our loved ones that made Gavin's 2nd Birthday such a success, despite Daddy's absence!
