Back to FL we go

We have been enjoying lots of family time with daddy on terminal leave…but all good things must come to an end-kinda :).  It is time for Adam to begin fulfilling his commitment to the Marine Corps Reserves.  Thankfully our boys are not in "real" school yet so we were able to take off with him.  I mean who misses out on an opportunity to a 'free' vacation to FL :).

We stayed in the Naval Lodge, right on the beach (Gav's favorite part).  Although we were very thankful to be there with daddy, it proved to be a tougher trip that we were expecting.  This was our first time to sleep in the same room with the kids.  Poor Gray started fighting an ear infection a few days after we got there.  Then he contracted Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease…poor fella.  He was miserable and not sleeping AT ALL!  Therefore, none of us were sleeping.  I decided to cut the "vacation" early and get the kids home because HFM is extremely contagious and I was fully expecting Gavin to be next.

On our way to FL.  Stopping for a break...

We enjoyed lots of beach time!

"Yay!  Daddy's home!"

Hand Foot and Mouth Disease!

Tired and sickly boys as we drove home

Thankfully Gavin did NOT get HFMD.  However, he did come down with a very strong case of Strep throat.  I'm am very grateful we decided to cut the trip a little short and come home when we did because the following days were pretty tough on the boys (and mommy).  We made it through and they have tougher immune systems to boot :).

It's that time again

Although this was Gavin's 4th move is his young life, I truly believe it has been the easiest for him to adapt to.  Maybe it's because we are surrounded by family, maybe it's because of the large body of water in our front yard, whatever the case...he has done really well.  I am very grateful for that!  Now secretly I was dreading school time because typically Gavin doesn't like new places, with new people.  However, there is always a blessing in disguise.  We were able to reconnect with some long time friends, the Malone's, who happen to have a daughter the same age as Gav.  After a little coordinating :), we were able to get them in the same class.  He walked right in on the first day and has never looked back!
