Watching daddy fly in the New River Air Show!

The weather was calling for clouds and rain but what we got was sunny and hot.  I don't mind when the weather man gets it wrong in our favor :).Gavin and I made the drive down to New River Air Station while Adam took off and landed from Cherry Point.  Andi, Samadah, and friends met us there. Once we parked and walked into the event, we started scoping out the best view point to see Adam.  We decided that the approach side of the runway would be best.  Thank goodness the weatherman called for rain because we all brought umbrellas.  We used them, not for rain, but to block the sun!  Another blessing was me remembering ear plugs for G. He not only wore ear plugs, but we eventually added Adam's shooting ear muffs.  Gavin couldn't hear a thing after we were finished with him :).

Adam flew in the MAGTAF Demo (Marine Air/Ground Task Force).  It was too cool.  They demostrated all different mission sets that Marine Corps Aviation and Ground Units are responsible for.  They had Hueys and Cobras supporting Marines on the ground as they converged on a location.  They had Ospreys bringing in more Marines for backup.  The CH-53s carried Humvees into the fight.  Then they announced the entrance of the EA-6B Prowler (Daddy!) and he simulated a Harm shoot with explosions on the ground.  Then he circled around and a couple of Harriers joined on him creating a division flight.  The division, led by Adam, performed a fly-by at around 500knots.

We are so proud of Adam and all that he has accomplished.  It was a great day and I am so glad that Gavin and I could be there to support him.

First Tooth at 7 months!

There have been lots of changes that happened over the past week. I recently quit my job at Daiichi Sankyo to prepare the family for our upcoming move to Quantico and to spend more time with my son. Gavin and I really enjoyed having Mrs. Liz as a babysitter. We are really going to miss her in Quantico. Well 7 months, already! I constantly hear everyday how "times flies, they grow up so fast, don't let it slip you by." I think it's the one piece of unsolicited advice that is actually spot on! They DO grow up way too fast. This week, Gavin has turned 7 months old, started to get on all-fours, and cut his first tooth! Wow, did I just quit work at the right time...thank you Lord!

Here are some pics of him while eating breakfast, in his "big boy" chair. It was quite the challenge to capture his little tooth, with his mouth open enough, minus his tongue being in the way.

As the old saying goes...time flies when you're having fun!

First Mother's Day

and it couldn't have been a better day!  I woke up to a card from my wonderful husband that thanked me for choosing him. Then we went to get Gavin after he woke up and there on his crib was another card from my "little" man.
Adam took care of breakfast for the whole family. He made me eggs, bacon, toast (w/ honey)...my favorite and Gavin ate his usual...cereal,milk, and fruit!

Adam's Mothers Day gift was a great idea where the whole family could participate.  We each painted our hands a different color and made a print on a matte that Adam craftly painted different shades of blue.  Gavin did a little bit of protesting.  It is something that we will always remember making together.

That afternoon for lunch, Andi and Samadah joined us.  Poor Shaheed was stuck in Texas after his helo broke down on a cross-country.  Adam grilled "the girls" steak, baked potatoes, and even baked a delicious chocolate cake for dessert.  I'm here to testify...it was beyond good!
I couldn't have asked for a better day...to spend with my family!   Thank you Adam for making me feel like a very special and blessed mother!  Here are a few picks we took of Gavin tearing into my pansies :).  They actually turned out really good.

BB and Grandma Dye come to town

to meet the G-man for the first time. Adam was out of town, so Gavin was surrounded by estrogen for the weekend. ..well he had Tobiah to back him up.  BB and grandma arrived late in the afternoon on Friday.  Gavin was already asleep for the night, so BB took the time to love on Tobiah.

The next morning, Gavin woke bright and early at 6:30.  After feeding him, he was quickly passed off to BB and he never looked back.  BB played with him and then fed him his breakfast.

Grandma slept in until Gavin woke up from his morning nap.  She decided she wanted to wake him up.  Gavin didn't recognize who was standing over his crib so he decided to tell us how he felt about it :).  But it didn't take Gav long to warm up to her, that's for sure!

More playtime for Gavin followed throughout the day and weekend.

We made sure to get some pictures with all four generations.  It was truly a special time to have Grandma there to meet her youngest great-grandchild!

Unfortunately BB and Grandma had to get back to Kennett.  There were flood waters on the way.  In order to beat the storm, they decided to leave Sunday afternoon.  BB was able to read Gavin his naptime story and then they hit the road.

It was a GREAT visit!  One that you look back on and smile thinking about all the memories that were just made.  Thank you BB and Grandma for driving all that way to see us (maybe Gavin a little more :).
